Brake light comes on after sudden slowing from highway speed

i did a search and couldn't find something similar. When I am going down the highway and slightly accelerating from highway speeds and I let off the the throttle to hit the brake and slow down, occasionally the brake light on the dash will come on with a semi hard pedal and a ding noise. Fluid is good. Has anyone else come across this?

Have you checked your pads? Sounds like they are worn allowing too much brake pedal travel.
