Backstory of my truck is I got it cheap because the previous owner bought it solely for the lift gate that was on it. So I'm without a rear bumper, hitch, or tailgate.

I was looking online for a hitch for my truck and I'm finding two different kinds for a 2002. One seems to need the bumper, the other doesn't .

Can anyone look at the pics of the back of my truck and let me know which hitch is going to work? And if need be, which bumper?

I'm not too worried about getting a bumper if I don't need it. But I would like to get a tailgate. Being a year that has "manufactured before or after X date" to search for parts has my head spinning a bit.

Link is to pics of the back of my truck.

You are missing the cross member piece

My truck came with this cross member but not the receiver so all I had to do was add the receiver. You need this whole thing: https://dicksautoparts.com/i-23035770-03-08-dodge-ram-1500-2500-3500-trailer-hitch.html

So I must be late 2002 if I need the same one as an 03.

Thank you. I sent them a request to buy it.

It's a 1500, 02 is the same throughout the model year, only the 2500/3500 was different. I was just using that as an example, you should've shopped around, you might have found something local or for a better price lol. Hopefully they didnt hack up the ends of the frame too much for the liftgate. This is how it should be attached:
