Since I am not picky about the engine or trim packages, I have been doing research on the 2018 Ram 2500's.
I think the only way to really tell how much of a "deal" I am getting is by basing the price off the discount % of the MSRP.
I hope to be back in America in September, get pre approved for my financing and shop around about 8 different dealerships in a 200 mile radius of my Home.
If anyone can throw me some advice i would appreciate it.
My initial offer on a vehicle is going to also factor in the fact that these trucks have been sitting on Lots for almost 2 years now, so they have depreciated in value on average of about 28-31% for trade in value.
Also, when it comes to the Cummins Diesel, just about every Dealership has at least 2 or 3 sitting on their lot because they aren't that popular compared to the 6.7 Hemi in the Pacific Northwest

I just bought a 2018 crew cab 4x4 tradesman with a Cummins for 42k. Included spray in bed liner, tonneau cover and step bars. I'd have to go look at the window sticker but it was 57 something with the accessories.

Your comment "Since I am not picky about the engine" makes me wonder why you're looking for a 2500. Are you going to tow with it or just want a 2500 to drive around as a daily driver? If towing, the engine makes a huge difference based upon what you are going to tow and the weight. If not towing and simply buying a 2500 to have one, then you will want to test drive both a 1500 and a 2500 as there is a world of difference in the ride (as well as towing capacity).

I have been to a few dealerships recently and they are not dropping prices at all for the older leftovers. Looked at a 2018 Laramie 2500 hemi in May and they were only willing to drop from the MSRP $60k to $53k and that was rebates only. They would not discount the price on their end at all. My son has been looking at new 2018 Cummins and the few dealerships he has talked to has stuck to their prices too. They had one advertised at $53k with an MSRP of $63k. That $10k was rebates only and he didn't qualify for most of those. They came back at a bottom line price of $58k and that was the $5k in rebates he did qualify for. The 2nd dealer that would not budge at all. He also called about a 2016 Cummins Laramie with 45,000 miles and 2 Carfax accidents and they wanted $46k and would not budge. Seems these trucks are still ion demand around here and dealers are sticking to their guns.

We plan on hauling a travel trailer as well as a 30' boat next year, so yes the 2500 is what im looking for, 1500 are too small lol. The thing i wasn't picky about is the engine, we maintain our trucks religiously and they both have their pros and cons. The reason i mentioned the Diesel as a possobility is because they're not selling as well as the Hemi in my area, hence probably willing to let it go at a steep discount

I got a great price on my CTD 2500 here in Oregon.

My local dealer matched a Dave Smith Motors price so I didn't have to go to Idaho afterall.

Near Pittsburgh, PA. Specifically Ron Lewis CJD in Cranberry Twp, PA (Laramie Hemi) and Wally Armour CJD in Alliance, OH (2018 Cummins Big Horn). Son called about a 2016 Cummins Laramie with 45,000 miles with 2 accident reports that they were firm at $46k. Said they would not budge and tried to tell him they had $45k in it...lol. He told them he is pre-approved and will be driving it off the lot the day he looks at it.

Unfortunately, I checked ****'s and they don't have anything in Stock that I am looking at. Right now i have three 2500's I am looking at, one is at Lithia in Portland, one is at Withnell in Salem, and the third is in Cottage Grove OR. They are all Tradesman 2500 with the CTD and Off Road Package. Hoping to get some price wars going on and get anywhere from 25-30% off the MSRP. I will have to keep an eye on them until i get home in September, but even then I don't think they are exactly a "hot item" seeing how they've been there almost 2 years now.

That's pretty optimistic to think you are going to get 30% off. Realistically you are looking at somewhere around 18-20% off give or take.

I looked up the one in Lithia. (they only have 4 trucks on the lot so not really a much of a truck dealer so they probably don't move many) The internet price is $43700 (msrp is $55700). "IF" you qualify for ALL of the rebates and incentives you might get it for the $43700 but that usually doesn't happen. You will probably be not far off that though. Don't expect to get it lower then that.

That being said September is still a ways away and they could be long gone by then. Best not to disappoint yourself and waste time at this point. Wait until you get back to begin your search.

Yeah, I miss **** Inukai. He was a real gentleman. The kids are OK if not a bit arrogant.

I"m a long time customer there and have dealt with several of the same people in sales and service for years. I hardly ever walk away from the dealership disappointed with how I've been treated.

I picked up my 2018 2500 Megacab Laramie a few months ago. New, off the lot. 6.4 Hemi; tax, tags, doc fees, etc...even $48,000 out the door. I believe it was listed at 53k and change.

I am now shopping 9 dealerships with 24 of the 2500 CTD off road packaged trucks to shop around in 3 states(OR,WA, & ID). Some have the shift on the fly 4x4 and some have the shift stick. There are a mixture of 8' beds and 6'4" beds. Wide selection of colors as well. I'll keep you folks updated in a few months. Wish me luck.
