Cab Swap

[550K Mile 96]

My 96 extended cab 96 (gas) is totally rotted out beyond repair. Despite having nearly 550,00- miles on it, the drivetrain is in great condition (swapped in a MOPAR Performance Crate engine @310,000 miles). I was just told by Minton Motors, who specialize in used Dodge truck parts, that Dodge made extended cab cabs as well as quad cabs all the way up till 2001. I had always thought they stopped making extended cabs in 98. Anyway... Minton is unsure if a 2001 cab would be a direct swap, perhaps something like my 96 dash might not fit or whatever. Can anyone give a definitive answer on this. I've also been told cabs from diesel trucks aren't a good swap for a gas truck too. Any help will be appreciated!

The cab itself is the same afaik. Interior threaded inserts for mounting certain things could be different, and you will definitely have to swap the wiring harness and dash over.

It would be a LOT easier to swap your power train into a newer body or find an Arizona 1996, or one that was really well cared or. My 96 from summer this year.
