Hi

I have an intermittent brake light.

I can’t seem to get rid of it.

So far the mechanic has replaced the brake pedal assembly, tightened and lubed the emergency brake and ensures all fluids are good.

It goes away for a few hours and then starts popping back on.

Usually it just blinks on and off but then some times there is a chime.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Alex

Hi

Sorry it’s a 2006 ram 1500 Laramie.

Definitely not new and didn’t have this problem until recently.

Any codes? My brake light intermittently lights up along with the ABS, which turns out to be my master cylinder level sensor failing (C1009 IIRC).

Hi

No codes just an intermittent light.

I’ll check if the master cylinder level sensor is replaceable.

Thanks for the advice.

Just the sensor is not replaceable, it is a molded part of the reservoir. Plus, according to MOPAR, you need to replace the master cylinder with the reservoir as a single piece after 2005.

So,

While the truck was on, and the brake light on, I tapped the master cylinder reservoir, and the light went off.

I went for a drive and after a bit the light came back on.

I stopped and tapped the reservoir again repeatedly, but this time the light would not go off.

Is there a way to check the sensor?

Thanks
