2004 Ram 1500 4s w/RWAL. Problems started a year ago with soft brake pedal. I assumed bad master. I replaced and pedal goes to the floor. I ended up replacing booster and all brakes and calipers. Could not get pedal back. Bled, bled and bled. Brakes would work a couple pumps then to the floor. I finally hauled into dealeship. They said front brake lines. I replaced and got it back and had medium brakes. A couple months go by and now leave work and pedal will go to the floor. Can pump it and get it back. I feel as thought the pedal has a couple of inches of free play at the top that it did not have before This has been here since changing the MC and Booster. It feels like the booster push rod needs adjusting but I can find no adjustment for that. I have taken the rear brakes out of the MC and plugged, removing the ABS from the system. Pedal feels firmer. Still have the extended travel. My feeling is that this is an ABS problem. Through all this I have never had and ABS light on. Not a cheap thing to guess and just replace parts for it. How do i know if it is the control module or the valve body. I see places that will service the control module at a resonalble price but no one who does the valve body. I can get used complete units but they are still from a 20 year old truck. I am open to any comments or suggestions. I have so many hours in this and feel defeated. This truck is in mint condition and I really don't like bypassing systems permantly.

I had a similar problem and there is a special tool for adjusting the brake's booster/master cylinder, i forget which one, it has something to do with aftermarket units. Wish I could tell you more.
