I have a 2007 1500 SLT 4x4. Years ago I installed Bilstein 5100s and mounting the springs higher on the struts to level the truck. At some point after, I got it aligned. I currently have 265/70r17's on it and this past weeked picked up some slightly used BFG KM3s in 285/70r17. Everything I have read says these 285/70r17 tires should fit, even on a stock truck. When I went to have them put on my 2007 stock wheels and put on the truck, they rub against the upper control arm while straight, even before turning. Except for the Bilsteins, everything is original and I have about 109k miles on it.
Can anyone tell me why these tires don't fit even though I read lots of threads stating this size tires should fit on my exact truck? Could it be worn out suspension components or a bad alignment? I've attached a few pics with the current 265/70r17 BFG Rugged Terrain tires on it. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I'd prefer to not add wheel spacers if I can avoid it. The width of the new tires is approximately 1" wider than the current tires.

I’m guessing the posts you saw saying they would fit were talking about 4th gens (2009+), they do fit stock 4th gens with no problems. The reason they aren’t working on your 3rd gen is 3rd gen stock wheels have less offset so the tire will be closer to the knuckle and upper control arm, obviously much too close. Find a set of stock wheels off a 4th gen on your local marketplace and get the tires mounted on those, and they should clear fine.

Exactly as mentioned above. Your stock wheels have left offset. You could either do as mentioned above and grab a set of 4th gen wheels which will offer a little better offset or go with a set of spacers which will do the exact same thing. And disregard the BS. The people are going to say the spacers cause premature wear. It will be no difference using a spacer versus a rim with the same amount of offset that the spacer would provide. The same amount of stress force will be applied.
