I was in the initial stages of purchasing a super clean, low mileage (12k) 2020 2500 Ram Laramie, Crew Cab, Cummins today, when I came across an article claiming that these new Rams 19'-22' were horrible, problem prone trucks.

Needless to say, I got spooked and backed out of the deal. Did I make the right decision? Do these trucks have a lot of problems?

Thanks in advance for your honest feedback.

Only 2019 and 2020 came with the infamous CP4 injector pump, and there is a recall pending/in process to replace that. Ford still uses the CP4, and there is no conversion possible, as there is not enough room in the valley where the pump sits on the V-8. GM used the CP4 for several years, and got away from it when the L5P came out in 2017(?). Ram returned to a version of the old reliable CP3 pump in 2021+. Other than the CP4 they are no more trouble prone than the other brands.

Could be a great truck when they swap out the CP4. I would do some research on it and see if there were issues with it. Maybe the previous owner had a lemon and wanted it gone. Maybe the previous owner just couldn't afford it, or some other reason to get rid of it and it is an amazing truck...overall the cummins is not prone to issues, it is a great engine

Lol don't read everything you read, no they're not problem prone trucks. Yes there are exceptions just like any brand. I have a 2020 2500 Limited 6.7 diesel with the CP4 and it's not been a problem, most will never see the problem and either way RAM is replacing them with a CP3 variant so no worries. They have no more than any other brand, in fact probably less. I've only got 9K roughly on mine and 5K of it is towing our trailer all over the country.
