Hi all, ex GF dented the tailgate a couple of months ago and the problem is its dented right on the crease, right where your SLT/Longhorn badge would be; about the size of a softball. I found OEM tailgates that are unpainted for under $300, but was wondering if its a easy piece to color match and not look off due to being painted at a different time than the rest of the truck. I've color matched door handles and fenders before with a HLVP gun and a oem clear, but with a piece as big as a tailgate I was unsure if I would have to repaint the rear bumper to match?

Thanks!

The tailgate will be easy to color match because it is an entire panel that does not actually touch or blend with another body component...like a fender and a door is way harder to color match because of their proximity next to each other...

Thats what I was thinking. Doing the front sport bumper is going to be a whole nother ball game. Previous owner got a couple deep scratches on it and filled it with a paint pen. Ordered a whole new front bumper for $120, but color matching to the grill and fenders will be hard.

I put a nice dent right on the lip of the tailgate on my old truck. It was even creased but the body shop i took it to repaired the tailgate and repainted it. You would never have known it happened unless i told you.

I had my buddy at a body shop bang it out but it sat so long you can see the nice softball size crease where the dent was. Its cheap enough for a new tailgate + whatever paint will cost me.

I guess i was saying it should be easy enough to match it.

Tailgate is a easy color match. Most parts on Rams are since Dodge had pretty simple paint mixes on 90% of the colors I have painted. The inferno crystal 3 stage was a little extra hassle but the silver, white, vanilla, black, true blue, mineral gray, and minimum steel I have done all matched 1st shot without and custom mixing. Haven't done a blue streak or deep cherry yet but they probably match pretty easy as well.

What do you think a Fair price would be to paint a tailgate, front sport bumper and a rear bumper individually and together?
