THEY ARE MADE OF STEEL AND COATED WITH A COMPOSITE!!!
THEY ARE STEEL!!!! THE END!!!!
GEEZ!!!
Yes. There is steel in them. I think most of us understand that. But there is LESS steel in them. If they were exactly the same as the old control arms and THEN they added plastic over the top of THAT, it would weigh MORE than the original control arm, not LESS. Hence the weight savings comes from reducing the amount of steel and that is where people don't like the fact that steel has been replaced with plastic. I don't really care either way. I'm not rich and I don't own a truck new enough to have those control arms anyway. The only thing that I don't like about them is that the fact that the ball joint isn't replaceable. You have to replace the entire control arm.

Also, here's a video of a guy taking a magnet and an air grinder to one:

People have opinions @Six Turboed. And you know what they say about those. It doesn't mean we're ready to start fist fighting about it. It's just a testosterone-fueled conversational debate; nothing to get upset about. I have a severe anxiety / panic attack / PTSD issue thanks to the military. If I let dumb little things like this get to me, I would literally go insane. We ALL love Dodge (or Stellantis) Ram trucks or we wouldn't be here! For better or worse, we're all in this together!!

Thank you for posting that. That should solve that!!! I just get tired of the outright BS. If I do not know something I usually ask or read and find out, and if I do open my big mouth and say something stupid I apologize and try to learn. But for people to continually try to tell people one thing when it clearly is not true it is something I do not care for. That is why I posted that article and there are a few more out there. I do not tolerate lying very well I have never liked a liar. It is one thing to have an opinion, like I do not like hot weather it is another to post something you have no clue what you are talking about. I am sorry for posting a little bit on the abrupt (curt) side I am not used to seeing all the whining like a bunch of little school yard little girly men!!! :)
I understand and thank you again for posting that. I will leave y'all at it and take another break for awhile.
All The Best

great post, especially the end where he had 3 examples and wagered an opinion that all steel is the way to go. You can see why someone should say plastic coated, it all depends what side you are looking at. If you are looking from underneath, it is plastic, from the top metal. But whatever, some guys like cheap stuff, even girls with big lipstick and rouge all over their face, and some guys like ivory girls whatever. I have not heard an argument that the new stuff is better then aluminum in anyway, and only benefit again st steel is weight. Are we at the point where guys are so tiffed they actually like the cheap plastic suspension parts? Man the PR guys have won this game for sure, congrats to them.
