Current Gear Indicator - PCS

I'm looking for and aftermarket OBDII product that will easily show current gear with the 8spd. I want it constantly available and live, not by hitting gear+/-. Small EVIC shows only highest gear limited.

Anyone tried this?

RPM/Speed was easy with a 4spd, could even tell TC lock-up... Close ratios of the 8spd requires too much attention.

Why? I like being very in-tune with my drive train.

I'll pass on some advice I was given when I first joined here. Give it a little time. You're asking about something that's not well known, it needs time for the populace to notice and formulate answers, particularly those who don't get to log on much during the work week. And given the smart ass answers some are in the habit of giving, you really do want to wait for those better thought out answers.

Now, for a personal opinion:

I have no info on it's operation, although what's it's doing is not complex. I do think it's way over priced for what it is and does. There's about $5-$10 in materials there and it's most likely being manufactured in China for pennies in labor. If you were to ask, they'd probably tell you the rest of the $129 cost is "R&D". All said, I'd call $50 a fair price, but not $129.

From an aesthetic point of view, in my opinion, it's ugly and I wouldn't want it stuck to my dash.

I keep hoping that the author of AlphaOBD figures out a setting to turn the gear display on full time on the EVIC.

^^^^^^^^^^^ On MY 19 Bighorn, in Uconnect, there is option to show current gear being operated in to display next to odometer. Also, if I do manual gear selection, that will display to the right of the current drive gear the truck is in. I do not know if U have that option or not in your year truck, and may depend upon what option packages were with the truck..

Nope. Have crappy 3.5 EVIC cluster. Only shows max gear limit, doesn’t show current.

Some premium clusters can be set to show it, and some others don’t from what I have read.

ADDED: Kinda like MY 06 Honda GL 1800 (MC), they quit displaying gears years ago, though U can buy an aftermarket one and attach and get display.....

Well,finally got a reply from the company.

“No it doesn’t work with that vehicle” was the entire reply
