This thread is to clear up some confusion and also to inform everyone on the gear/lsd options for 2011+ Rear Axles.

I just had a DTT and 4.10's installed in my 2012 Ram.
It was quite costly.... Roughly 1500.00
This is only for those that want to go all out race or serious 4x4'n

Here is what is needed:
1. 9.25 Ring and Pinion. Any ratio size you want, 4.10, 4.56 etc.
2. 9.25 Detroit Tru Trac. Install as normal.
3. 2011+ Ram (Drivers Side) ZF Axle Shaft (Longer Side) Part # 68140297-AA
4. Master Install Kit

The reason a long side shaft is need is because the OEM ZF LSD is offset while the 9.25 DTT or 9.25 LSD is not.

For those with 2011+ that just want to have 4.10 or 4.56 gears and already have a Factory LSD, all that is needed is to machine the OEM carrier for the older 9.25 bolt pattern and recess the holes.

Those that do not have an OEM LSD would obviously need to purchase one.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Gear swap for Front IFS for 2012 and Up is not available.
The Ring gear is welded to the carrier and is not serviceable at this time.
Only option is to Swap to an older 8.0 IFS Assembly from a 06-11 Ram and then order gears accordingly.
Note: It is better to get whole assembly not just the chunk.
IFS, CV Axles, Diff bracket, Front Driveshaft etc.

I would care (if I had didn't have a 10' :p ) pre-axle screw up, pre-ecrypted PCM screw up

Great post Josh!

BTW, $1500 is a bargain up here, where they **** 4x4 owners

Just to get my rear done is over $2k
...and that's just for a DTT, R&P Master install kit + install labor.

another $1000 to do the front diff (just R&P)

as a result, still saving my pennies, only major mod left to do
(still have open rear diff and 3.55's)

I care! Thanks for the great info! :)
I am about to get the mopar 4.10 gears and lsd done. Detroit or Mopar on the LSD? I realize there is a big price difference...
Are their modifications needed to use the Detroit, or did I misunderstand???

Also, I think $1,500 is not bad considering the benefits...
But I do want to slap the person who didn't put them in my truck at the factory! Lol :)

So they switched to using ZF axles in 2011?

Its prolly just about the same price to go either route now.

OEM LSD + OEM 4.10's + install kit =1300.00
DTT LSD + 9.25 Gears + ZF Axle shaft + install kit = 1200.00

Where is the best place to buy the whole package??? I am thinking oem for factory warranty.

Do you think going with the DTT would be more labor costs for install??

Whats the huge difference between factory LSD and a detroit tt?

They both have clutches right?

Is there anything to be done to the front diff to put aftermarket gears in yet? got a 2013 4x4 and want to put 4.56 because of the tire size im jumping to. but was told just having the back machined and put the 4.56 gears in then will have problems while in 4x4 mode? Don't know a whole lot about all this lol.

No... The DTT is clutchless and is far superior than the OE one.

So I should probably go DTT and get the zf axle and oem 4.10 gears???

I have been thinking oem lsd for warranty reasons...

Is there a big difference in labor, cost and level of difficulty doing the DTT vs oem???

Nothing for the front as of yet. Other than swapping the whole assy.

You can't use the OEM R&P with the DTT... Would need 9.25 R&P
Shouldn't cost any different

On order from Moe's! Thanks Matt!

Went with oem 4.10s and lsd. Also, got Mag-Hytec diff cover to keep it a little cooler back there! :)
