When I was Deciding to buy my Dodge/ Ram truck last year, everyday it got more and more confusing because of the separation of Dodge and Ram? Who knew that Dodge had actually divided their truck line to RAM? Some web sites had them listed as Dodge trucks while others listed them as RAM. Even the Part vendors are using either name now, and now the new description; Generation? Just like the Glock handgun lol, can we just keep it simple (KISS) 2019 RAM etc
I’m a avid Deer hunter and when I started hearing hunters call unwanted deer a Dink! Or a Cull for an excuse for not getting the big one lol, we always said buck or doe ha, ha

2002-2008 Dodge Ram trucks are considered the 3rd generation trucks which includes the 2009 Ram 2500/3500.

In 2009 the Chrysler Group restructured their vehicle line-up and separated the trucks from everything else.

The 2002-2008 Dodge Ram's are considered the 3rd generation trucks and this includes the 2009 Ram 2500/3500 trucks.

The 2009-2018 RAM trucks are considered the 4th generation trucks and includes the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic.

In 2010 Dodge started marketing the trucks under the RAM Truck division.

My 2010 still says Dodge pickup on the title.
The rubber sunglasses tray on the dash says Dodge. I believe the switch to Ram was in the last quarter of 2010, so mine got in under the wire. :)

Late 2012 to early 2013 is when they switched up the trucks from a “Dodge” RAM to a RAM, and is the same year the 4th generation got a exterior “facelift” with the interior overhaul, Pentastar V6 replacing the old and slow Powertech V6, etc.

My 2011 said Dodge in one spot in the interior...seems like they had some leftover parts for a year or so. My 13 showed nothing Dodge related on it.

It doesn’t really matter, It’s a Dodge, it’s also a Chrysler, it’s also a Jeep, etc. they’re all intertwined

For the third gen, 2002 was only the 1500 and the 3rd gen for 2500/3500 started in 2003. I had 2003 2500 and it was sometimes a bit of trouble when I had to fix something, for example found my original exhaust was a 2nd gen 5.9 retuned in computer for my 2003 5.7, had different number of O2 sensors than later 2003 builds of same truck.

You are correct. I forgot to add that the 2002 Ram 2500/3500 was still the BR/BE 2nd Gen body style. 2003 was the first year of the 3rd Gen DR truck in the 2500/3500 platform.
