Looking to swap out my stock RES 130 for either a kenwood or pioneer double din. Is there any cutting or trimming needed. Dont want my dash all jacked up because some idiot doesnt know what he is doing.

Will be running 1200 watt RMS kenwood amp pushing 2 10inch kickers in a FoxBox. Know this doesnt matter but just added for more info

Some times you have to trim internal bracing behind the factory hu, not a big deal.
Also depends on what install kit you purchase. There are many members who have installed dd hu's ...search and see their install story. Plenty to choose from and most name brands have been covered as well.

I just installed a Pioneer dd and I had to trim two things.

1. When you take all the dash parts off, and the old deck out, there's a square metal bracket that surrounds the factory deck. You need to trim the top lip off, from corner to corner and take the mounting bolt out.

2. The plastic lip underneath the dash, where it rounds down and into the hole for the deck, needs to be trimmed back about a quarter inch to allow the bigger DD deck to sit flush.

All in all, install took about an hour (with screwing around with the pac and antenna harness), and once the double din sits in the dash kits, it will look nice and clean.
