I pickep up a 2001 ram 3500 yesterday 4x4. IT has an electric lift pump behind and under the fuel filter, I picked up a new filter and put it in, (the filter housing was dry as it was sitting for 4 years). I put 10 gallons of fuel in the tank. Hooked up new batteries and pushed the little purge valve on the injection pump, some air then lots of fuel. I cracked three of the injectors #1#3 and #4. Turned it over and over until fuel was shooting out of the area where the line meets teh injector, tightened the nuts back down on the injector and tried to start it. I will turn over several times, start to combust for a few more turns and then no more life other than what the starter will do. If I let it sit it will repeat this. Starter fluid will fire it off for a few seconds at best. Does this sound like the pump? Why would it start to fire off but then lose interested during the starting cycle?

Sitting for 4 years, possibly gunk in fuel lines, especially if it fires with starting fluid. Could have clogged enough after the initial fuel dump. Check filter and lines to sure they are 100% clear.
