A mutual friend of mine introduced me to his friend that had a ecodiesel jeep a few years ago. He said all his mechanic friend did was cap the two holes with metal plates. Disconnected some other things and that was it. I looked online and the kits are $50ish and a dozen small pieces.
I understand this is vague, but it's only for the purpose of discussion & education.
So can it really be that simple?

Just like with a gasoline powered engine
you don't want any oil to enter your Injectors & then into your Combustion Chamber, ONLY AIR, gas or diesel is suppose to do that.
watch this video

you need a Catch Can, another name for it is a Fuel/ Oil / separator

which is something like what a automobile Painter uses
they place a Water /Air Separator in the Air Line that feeds the Paint Gun.
What it does is removing the Water from the Air, so they don't get water in the Paint

I can't imagine that it's that simple from a tuning perspective. From a hardware perspective, that's really all there is to it. BUT.... your ECM is programmed to monitor certain parameters in the EGR/emissions system and my thoughts are that if those parameters skew due to missing equipment that it's going to throw a code and put the truck into limp mode until it is tuned out.

At least that's how it is on the 6.7 Cummins.
