Evaporator replaced; now play in steeringvwheel

My 2014 1500 is driving me crazy. Just put another 2200 into air conditioning repairs, this time the evaporator was bad. Got my truck back this morning and there is now about an inch of play in the steering wheel. Is it possible the mechanic broke something while taking the dash out? Thanks for the insight.

My steering was nice and tight until I was working on it and turned it back and forth a few times with the engine off. Without the power assist and while sitting still, evidently the steering components couldn't handle it. To this day I have some play in the steering shaft joins. I don't know why they would have needed to crank on it while working on it, but they may have pushed it around in the shop with the engine off and did some unassisted steering then.

May well be totally wrong, but it's a theory.

If I paid money to have something repaired, and when returned to me, another component was suddenly deficient in operation, I would be knocking on their door and asking them to correct what has changed.

And if this wasn't previously identified as a risk, without charging any fee.

This is one very good reason to pay automotive repair bills with a credit card.
Nobody wants the hassle of fighting with a cc company because the customer cancels the payment.
