exhaust issues and questions

first... to the mods.... if this is in the wrong section please move it for me. i wasnt totally sure where it needed to go.



ok so yesterday i noticed the sound of my exhaust had changed so me and my buddy crawled underneath my ride and found this!!



this is where that hole is at.



and this is what used to be there.





it looks to me like the pipe broke around where the hanger was welded on. i was thinking about just getting a 2 inch band clamp and tightening it down over the hole. im hoping that will last me until tax season when i was planning on redoing the exhaust anyway. what do yall think?

also im pretty sure this is the stock y-pipe. am i right?

You can buy a exhaust fix-it kit from checker/oreily that should be able to fix that for a little while. Its like a mesh metal screen and some exhaust putty/jb weld that goes on it and it should be fine. Its just a temp fix and will look like **** but otherwise it should work.

And yes that is the stock Y.

holy rust bat man, Id go stainless next. and stay away from flowmaster, cause ur deff not the first w/ this problem. I have a stainless gibson super truck and love it

alright. i might look into that then. like i said i only need it to last me another few months till january gets here and i can file my taxes. i had already planned on redoing my exhaust with a new Y and a better sounding muffler. im also planning on adding an e-cutout and just dumping the exhaust. my buddy just had a new muffler put on his 2nd gen and had them dump it a foot behind the muffler. it sounds pretty nice. and when i want to be loud i can just hit a button!!! lol

yeah its rusted all to crap! it was on the truck when i got it and i will definitely be going stainless when i change!

Dude I wish you were closer I'd offer to fix it for yah for free, I have a ton of extra pipe laying around, just cut a quarter outta one, slap it up there and weld it on.... Not comin to Louisville this weekend are you? Haha

Sounds just like mine. Mine did the same thing. Though being poor i used jb weld and duct tape.

hey wait dude, are you if you're in jacksonville NC, are you a marine? if so you should be able to go to the hobby shop and they used to have a welder in there

nope not a marine. a military brat who doesnt have base acess. one of my buddys from work is gonna weld it up for me monday though!!


and no AP i cant just cut it off. NC has emissions testing!! lol
