Just throwing this out just for the heck of it because I'm totally baffled.

Discovered this damage on the fender right above the headlight. Not sure how this kind of damage could happen without damaging the headlamp. No idea when this happened but obviously it was a while ago since there is rust.
It's almost like someone shoved a pry bar in there without damaging the headlight.

Did you just buy the truck ?
Or are you like me & maybe walk around the truck twice a month ?
In New Jersey, rain is common, so is rust

Is it possibly buckled from a bird strike on the fender's leading edge? Odd.

I've had the truck for over a year now. I just happened to notice this yesterday.

I don't recall hitting anything while driving. I would think I would have heard the "thump".
Yeah, it's just odd.

Maybe some type of flatbed backed into it . The fender looks closer to the hood about half way up ,like the whole fender is out of whack .

It seems the bottom front edge is flared out a little. I also wonder if something backed into it more from the side than head on. That would explain why the headlight looks unscathed. Then the area above headlight buckled and chipped paint which then rusted … ‍♂️

I have security cameras on the house to catch any wrong doing....it might be time to put a motion activated camera on the truck.

I'm in agreement with Daw, a large truck with a flat bed or a step platform at just the right height, just stopped a little to long.

Someone backed in to you. The bumper cover is deflected in. The fender has a bow in it in the mid point and the lead edge is curling down. Look at the fender gap to hood as well as the plane of the fender gap to the hood from windshield to head light. The head light is also shoved back in against the fender gap down the side of it.

I am willing to bet you get up under the front and your "bumper" and mounts are buckled. Their are brackets down low that will apply force higher up the fender when impacted at the actual "bumper" and cause only slightly visible body deviations. My brother tapped a concrete pole in a parking lot. The visible damage was little, but he had at least one bracket bent and some other mount points pulled out of alignment. Enough he said screw it as he did not want to take the insurance hit for what would have been over a $1000 in damage , but only showed a little bump in the plastic cover.

That is the reason even if someone bumps my car, I am stopping and fully checking it out and getting their info, even if there is no "serious" damage. Wife bumped the outer edge of my rear bumper with her RAV.....Over $2000 in repairs.......The rear bumper is nothing more then a cover like the front, just made out of light weight metal.
