Front tow points

Well I am new to this forum because I just bought a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500.





I started looking at my truck and realize that there was no easy way to tow it from the front if needed and I don't wanna wait until I have to figure it out in an emergency.


So where do you tow from on road and offroad for recovery?

you have to hope you dont need to be towed! i had to be pulled out last year and we tied a strap around my rear axle... probably not the best idea lol. i have been looking to weld a tow point onto my frame some place but cant find a good spot. but as long as yours is not a sport you should be able to buy factory tow hooks

Unfortunately front tow points on these trucks are slim pickens. What I did was just take a look under there and see where you want them first. From there just get a plan and run with it. I used bolt on front tow hooks from auto zone. Tightened them up real good then hit them with a dirty weld and im good to go.

They used to be available from mopar but they have been discontinued. Can maybe find something on eBay. I found a pair in local scrap yard but can't get em off, don't have the right tools. I want some too

You can find some mopar ones from a parts truck if your lucky.

I have those but just in black. Good tough tow hooks. I put two up front and I like the look and strength of them!

How did you mount them? Just drill holes in the frame?

If yours is the same as mine there should be a bunch of holes already there.

Here's where my tow hooks are located on my '03 1500. Not sure if your set is the same on your '01, but at least it'll give you a general idea.

i would pick up something like this. use some really heavy duty bolts and bolt it to your frame in a convenient place, and have a shop throw some good welds on there as well
