Used Plasti-Dip on my rims. Totally changed the attitude of my RAM. Definitely a cheaper alternative to powder coating....if you don't mind the occasional touch up. Or if you just wanna see what your truck will look like with Blacked Out accessories before you spend money on a more permanent solution. Also while I had my wheels off, went ahead and painted my brake calipers.

Yea regular old Rustolem spraypaint. Probly should have used a heat resistant paint,but...... I have a tenency to do things before I think em through all the way. Lol! Considered debadging or at least Dipping em, but I still love my chrome bumpers and the badges tie in to them well. Didn't wanna over do it. I ve seen some guys that once they started Dippin , they took it too far.

Yeah I understand. I have a lot of chrome and I'm trying to decide what to dip and what not to. Figured I'd just start with the wheels and see how it looks, probably paint my calipers black while I'm in there. I don't have any red on the truck so I don't know if red would look good in the wheel well. As for the badges, in my opinion debadged would look better and cleaner. I think if you were to dip them it would look out of place with your chrome bumpers. It is your truck though after all. lol

Was out today trying to get some but my local shops are all out of stock.

Seems the suppliers are having trouble getting it through customs... Worst case I'll order on-line but it was so nice today... Would have been a perfect day for dipping...

Dipped my wheels as well and I love the look, debating if I want to peel center to show the silver or not.

I wanted to add, if you decide to debadge you could leave the hemi emblem. That could be the best of both, have the clean look but also the hemi badge to complement the chrome. Just a thought.

Thanks for the comments guys! FYI, make sure you put it on thick like the website says! When you get ready to peel it off, its so much easier. I found out the hard way. Put it on too thin and ended up having to order the DE-Dipper to eat it off! Good lookin RAMs yall have! DerekP ,personally I think a liitle flash of red in the wheel wells would look badass on your black RAM. Yellow is another option that would work well. Im gonna keep experimenting, after all you can just peel it off!

I have read 4-5 coats is considered thick but how much is applied during each coat? I did a wheel this weekend and 1 can was really only 2 decent coats. Kits online typically sell 1 can per wheel so that is my confusion.

I might try red. It might look okay. Lol just curious, how many cans of dip did you use on your 4 wheels with all the coats?

I did one can pet wheel (20" rim) I got at least 5 coats on mine, I think it was 6. My first kit was just a slight coating, really just made rim look grey, the rest were pretty decent coats.

I work at oriellys and We have started carrying Duplocolors version of it called plastic wrap. Same concept and so far it has held up nicely on What I have done. I never had luck on ever finding Plastidip so when I saw this come through the door, I scooped up a couple of cans. So far We have clear coat glossy, clear coat flat, black, red, orange, blue, green...
Pretty nice though

Hi guys - looking to do my rims as well. Truck is black - my question is what do you think looks better gloss or flat black?

Other question - when the callipers were painted did you remove them or paint in place?

Dipped myn as well. Used the glossifier too. One side i used rustoleum flexidip MISTAKE that sprays more direct and a pain to even coat large areas. PLASTIDIP all the way.

dipped my step bars too. Dipped my grille inserts and next will be the decals somehow...

Painting my calipers silver to match the truck with duplicolors caliper paint kit this weekend as well.

Dip is very useful. I went ahead and did alot of my truck with a gun and self-thinned dip. Dont suggest self thinning as ive heard it doesnt peel as well as ReadySprayDip RSD. Heres some pictures.

Also did my buddys grill on his 300 but as you can see it peeled a bit only after a few days due to bad prepImageUploadedByTapatalk1431719142.905983.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1431719151.772298.jpg
