Has anyone else's dash turned into a sticky pad?

I just washed my truck and was trying to get some dog hair off my dash and noticed I couldn't get it off. Then on closer inspection I noticed there plastic pieces on the dash that are getting hit by the sun are incredibly sticky. I mean if I touch it... my finger literally sticks to it... and I just can't get the hair off. Truck is still under warranty as it's a 2018 but what a joke that it can't handle the uv light / heat.

My dash is like 600 grit. Microfiber towels get shredded.

Same here. The only time I’ve been able to truly clean it is in cooler weather . . . which is few and far between here in central Texas.

Zero issues with mine. I park outside in the boiling Texas heat and my dash is smooth as glass.

Touché... My 1996 was cracked and rattled but wasn’t sticky. Have you used any products on the dash?

My 16 sets outside year round and so far my dash is not sticky or rough, pretty much like new.

My truck is a 2015 and in the AZ heat I've never had this issue. I always use a sunshade (covercraft, worth the money) in the summer and I've never put any type of product on the dash to clean it besides simple green using a microfiber cloth. It could be a certain product causing the issue if you're using one

My '09 Camry did with 160,000 miles on the clock...... Toyota replaced under warranty in 2018.

Interesting. I live in southeast Texas on the Gulf Coast and we have wildly extreme heat and humidity here. My dash is perfectly normal on my 17.

If you dont use a Windshield shade your dash is going to look like dorito chips sitting side by side. The shades are $20-$30, buy one, use it all the time, its worth the investment. If you notice alot of older Rams when you are driving around, look at their dash, alot of them have carpet on it, thats why.

A little preventative maintenance goes a long long way.

Instead of window shades, I use a DASHMAT.

https://www.covercraft.com/us/en/dash-covers

They are custom made for an exact fit, all for about $50. They also stop any glare from reflecting off the top of the dash into your eyes. I buy the SuedeMat style for all my vehicles.

Might literally be the ugliest and worst idea I have ever seen for a vehicle. Buy a Windshield reflector and save from having to put that in your vehicle. Now if you didnt use the reflector and your dash looks like a bag of doritos, then yes, do that dash carpet. But oh man, try to avoid that if you can.

Funny thing, I get nothing but compliments on my dashmat. In fact, some guys I work with saw mine and bought their own. Also with a Dashmat, its always in place. No need to constantly put up then take down shades every time you drive.

I live in Baytown. Born and raised here. Aside from a year in New Jersey, I’ve been here all 40 of my years

Mine is sticky too, it's under a carport when I'm not at work but in the sun there. I just cleaned it with plexus which usually works on everything plastic. I will see how it feels tomorrow.

Lol Exactly. Hell, I don't even want the carpet on the damn floor, I sure as hell don't want it on the dash. I would do the same as I did in my old Sonoma when the dash cracked, out cam the fiberglass mat & resin. All finished out, coat in matte finish... Better than new. I would spend $500 on fg and paint before $50 on carpet. Lol
