So, we've been on the run for three days now and there's weirdness from the front end. Sounds like a cross between normal offroad tires on pavement and a blower. I have neither. Added kicker: it comes and goes with RPM changes. I was thinking grill shutters opening/closing since we were at hiway speed but it continues at the same volume even at a crawl. I'm stumped.

Maybe a bearing of some sort such as the water pump or alternator or even an idler pulley.

Also, the noise is intermittent. Usually sets in in a climb (3200 rpm) and dissipates on the other side when it gears down (1800 rpm). But not every time.[emoji35] More than likely will end up having to take it in but damned if I can figure out how to explain it to them much less re-create it.

See, I don't know. It makes me feel like a giant ******* but I just don't know. The truck is still new to me, sort of, and it's something I've never heard before. I've hauled 8k miles so far and this is the first time. Maybe it's not been hot enough outside til now? If'n it is the fan it's one helluva fan because I can feel the vibration in the skinny pedal.

Fans can get loud when their pulling allot of air, mine hot will roar going uphill.

Just wondering based on your description of the noise and because you mentioned it varies with the engine RPM. If it still does it while parked id have to say sounds like the fan. If you can replicate the result and open the hood might help you pinpoint it.

It could be a bad pulley on the belt drive, but those noises tend to get louder over time.

One foooking loud fan it is then until I get a dash light or grindy noises. Swear to Gawd on high I never would have thought It would roar like that. Thank you, gentlemen.
