Horrendous Squeaking Near Transfer Case Shifter

I'm going bizzerk, a new squeak has developed in what appears to be the area between the floor transfer case shifter and a plastic surround. I read something on another forum, but the poster said their squeak went away. Mine is getting worse, sounds like nails on a chaulk board that pulses over every bump. Forget about it on gravel roads with my tradesman suspension.

I've debated squirting some lithium grease to quiet it, but am curious if others have had this too?

Truck is tradesman with floor T-case shifter and plastic surround.
