Set the climate control fan on low. Close the windows, shut the truck off and close the doors. Let sit in the hot sun for 30 minutes. Put your AC refrigerant leak detector probe in the center vent opening. Turn the ignition switch on. If you get a brief "hit" on the leak detector, then you have a leaky evaporator. To answer your question, yes, there should be o-rings between the block connection and the evap.

Good, thanks. I know I have a leak, been smelling it for some time. Noticed oil leak at block and on frame. Moved tubing and saw vapor and oil leak from said location. Hoping only o-rings.

Let us know what you find. More often than not, at least from what I've read, it's not going to be as you hope, but still, would be great if it was!!!!

FML... Well dodge did do good by using Orings. Problem is they did S**T job supporting heavy a** vapor line which in turned broke connections to evap coil. Now I either need to pay stealership to do work or attempt on my own at about 2 days time.

Sorry to hear that.
Loss of Freon due ONLY to O ring problems are rare. Problems with leaks at the evap core due to (all kinds of things) are more common.

I know your pain... I had a leaky evap and paid the dealership to fix it. It was expensive but my a/c is nice and cold!

@Cherry, no I bought automotive adapters for my regular HVAC gauges. I'll be doing it myself. I know I can at least handle this part of project with no problems.

@Sladerade not sure what dealer would charge, but for the 14-16hr ticket time I know it wouldn't be cheap here in NJ.

Surprisingly not as hard as I thought, 10 bolts for dash. 5 nuts or bolts for air box.
