How does this come off?

Anyone know how to get this handle off of my center console?

Open the lit and remove the screws that hold the handle assembly on. You may need to remove the lit first.

When I open the lid there is just a flat piece of plastic covering the entire lid. Does it just pull off or what? Taking the lid off doesn't seem to be of any help since the screws are in the hinge and not the plastic piece.

Maybe screws under rubber stops?

Just pull on it a tad till you feel a resistance point. That's what I do. Hahaha

Try unscrewing the bumper stops. Just a guess.

I want to paint the handle. That chrome blinds the hell out of me when the sun hits it. The rest of the chrome inside has been done already I just can't figure out how to get that handle off.

Thanks for the video Stimpy. Looks like once the bottom panel is off I can just unscrew the handle from the back without taking the whole locking mechanism out. Very helpful video.

Oh that makes sense. Worst case you could just unscrew the whole lid, since it comes off easily, and just tape off the chrome part. Just a thought.
