I put a set of 35" NTG's and 18" XD's on my truck around 3K miles ago. Took a road trip Sunday to take my daughter horseback riding for her birthday and they damned near rattled my fillings loose. I needed an oil change and had another free one at the dealer so I had them balance and rotate while I was in today. It's all better now but it's got me wondering how frequently this will be necessary? I've hear of tires slipping on the wheel after they've been mounted and balanced and that's a possibility, although I drive it like my Grandpa would.

Just curious what other's experiences have been.

Maybe you had a wheel weight come off.

Well depends on if the shop installed them correctly. There is a dot on the side wall were the low spot is in the tire and you line this up with the valve stem for the easiest balance. Now I know Nitto's will probably fit tight like toyo's do so the 3k probably allowed them to seat properly also. Last they are 35's and thats a hellva lot of tire so odd balancing sessions can be in your near furture, but there is a product out there called counteract that you throw in the tire and when you drive it moves to the low spot. Had them in some 33's on an old mazda pickup and never had a problem with balancing ever.

I found out that my duratracs are rock magnets. When it starts shaking I pick the rocks out. It's pretty surprising how little rocks will cause the wheel balance off. Most noticeably at higher speeds.
