How to remove black plastic wire harness clips from valve cover studs?

I'm absolutely stumped and feel like a dunce. Would appreciate some help. Partway into removing the passenger side valve cover to replace the gasket, and can't figure out how to remove the three black plastic square things that slip over the valve cover bolt studs, and that keep the large black wiring harness stable. I've pried the hell out of them and they still won't budge. Can't reach the nut without removing them. Help please? That's the only thing keeping me from getting this job done (which should be simple).

Pliers. Grab and pull, or grab and pry with flathead.

I'll try that! I tried just by hand, and I tried a screwdriver, but hadn't thought about pliers! Will report back, hopefully with a success story. Many thanks!

Some of those are threaded and turn off.
