BigHorn453 posted links to the updates on page one of this thread. I can't share the update because I have the Uconnect 8.4an RJ4 and you have the 8.4a RJ3.

If BigHorn453's links aren't working and you're not able to do the update on your own with the links I provided, I suggest you go to the dealer.

There is a Service Bulletin (or RRT) in regards to the radio enhancements, see below...

Yep, it sure did. There were some features that got added like the controls tab with the mirror diming option. When I look at the system information, it shows that the version has been updated with the one i uploaded.

I was having VR issues when I first got the truck. Brought it to the dealer and they updated the software... no issues since.

I like to keep my software UTD though, so I'll give this a try...

Has there been any more word about when/if we'll be getting addl apps?

Hey guys,
Well i searched and couldn't find an answer so i was curious if anyone else was having this issue.I listen to youtube alot through bluetooth and when my son watches his cartoons off my phone i usually just play the sound through bluetooth.Ever since i did the update i can't get the sound to come through the speakers.Use to when somthing from my phone played other than my music,It would stop playing the song and play the sounds of the youtube video or whatever else you were listening to.Now it stops playing the song off my phone,But i get no sound from the video.I also have no volume control either.I can swap to radio then back to media and it will play the sounds of the video im watching for a few seconds then will automatically start playing the song you were listening to.Is there another option i should be looking at now since the newest update?

I have the exact same issue! I have an Apple iPhone 4S. When I access the YouTube app and begin to play a video, my iPod overrides it and a song begins to play. Very frustrating! There also seems to be a communication error between the Uconnect and the Pandora app. If I play Pandora through the USB as opposed to Bluetooth, I'll get the album art on the display which is nice, but I can't skip a song like I can through Bluetooth.

guys, will you share how much has it taken for your system to start updating from the USB?
I have an ISO file on the stick (thks to BigHorn453), the Led on the stick blinks sometimes at the beginning, the system is starting up, then USB stop blinking and nothing will be happen then. No update message. Radio just works as usual. I've been waiting for up to 5 minutes - nothing.

p.s. USB is FAT32 with .iso file only. Usually used to play mp3 on it.

I updated my 1500 last night. It takes a number of minutes to recognize the .ISO on the USB stick. I would make sure no other files (MP3?) are on the stick. Just hang in there.

Then the update is probably 45 minutes long. You can actually drive the vehicle while it is updating, just don't turn the vehicle completely off if you stop.. and you won't have any control of the climate as well, so if you need to defrost the window etc not recommended!

It is a great update so far.. the screen is so much more responsive!

Is your USB drive at least usb2.0? I did the first update several months ago with an old 1gb drive that wasn't 2.0 and it took FOREVER. It also froze in the middle and I had to restart it. Though for sure I'd be going to the dealer but it worked the second time. This update (13.38.52), I used my 16gb usb3.0 drive It worked flawlessly and it was much faster.

badvik, check your pm. I sent you a link to the RJ3 file (un-extracted). Download it, run the .exe to extract the .iso, and then re-format the flash drive as fat32, and transfer only the "swdl.iso" to it. I hope that works for you!!


And for anyone else looking for the INTERNATIONAL VERSION for the RJ3 -- I added the link to my first post on page 1.

I did try to rename the viper theme as the normal one for my truck, re-ISO it up, and see if my truck would update with it and take the update. It said authentication failed, lol.

Haha thats funny! I extracted the iso too and was poking around at all the files, I stumbled upon the backgrounds as well, you have some balls trying it out! I'd be afraid to brick something by changing things. I imagine there is some kind of md5 checksum protecting alterations of the image though.

Has to be a way around it. Someone just needs to put the time and effort towards finding a work around. I might try to tackle this if I get bored over the holiday.
