All right gents. 2008 1500 5.7 HEMI vin 2 so it has that wonderful MDS. Been having intermittent misfire on cyl 3 and oil pressure codes. Figured lifters but tried plugs, swapping coils and that good stuff. Just dropped the oil and she's disco. Gots the doom glitter. Hit me with it fellas. On a scale of 1 to phuqed, am I looking at valve train over haul or do I need a motor?

That depends. Drain your oil and pull the oil pump. Check it for metal. If you see glitter there, I'd say the pump sent metal everywhere which is, at the least, a total tear down, bearing inspection, main journal inspection, cam and lifter inspection, etc... You'd do this to keep from ruining new parts by running metal through the engine again.

You may be able to get this rebuild done cheaper than buying a reman engine with a limited warranty. Pulling one from a junker is risky as you don't know it's condition.

Good luck.
