If i were to get extremely rich somehow, and get another 2020 Limited, but instead of the 3.6 get it with the 5.7L, would it be possible to swap in a Jasper 4.7L? I know it’ll take some programming and probably wiring harness swaps, but i wanna know if its possible. Thanks for any answers in advance!

Just realized it would’ve been more appropriate to post this in the 5th gen section, but oh well.

Why would you get a truck with a 5.7 only to downgrade? Why not just get the 4.7? Or is that no longer an option? I haven’t paid any attention to the new truck options other than kind of watching the TRX model

Because in my opinion the 5.7 is not a good engine at all, and the 4.7 hasn’t been sold since 2013. The 3.6 is good, but not enough in a truck.

The 3.6 makes almost the same horsepower and has an 8 speed. I bet an 8spd + 3.6 would beat a 6 speed and a 4.7 in a drag race and would be more fuel efficient while cruising.

I doubt the 4.7 could easily be put into a 5th gen. I'm sure you could do it with enough money though lol

The 3.6 makes as much horsepower, sure. But doesn’t make nearly as much torque (which is where it matters in a truck). Yes, the 3.6L easily outbeats the 4.7L (6 SP) in a 0-60 test, but the 4.7L kills the 3.6 in towing. If you managed to tune the 65RFE just right, it could kill the 3.6L. Now, imagine the 4.7L behind a 8HP70. No head issues that plague the 5.7L, and not horrible in towing like the 3.6L and faster than the 3.6L. I’d kill for that in a truck. Which is why if it ever becomes available, i’ll be swapping a 8 speed behind my 4.7L 2013.

The 4.7 has it's share of issues to,and you'd basically ruin the trucks resale value, plus spend a ****load of money getting it to run right. You've got some weird ideas at times young feller, but that's about the weirdest one you've come up with, lol. Throw in the fact the 4.7 hasn't been used by anybody now in several years and parts are going to start getting harder to get for it,in another 1/2 dozen years there probably won't be many outfits even rebuilding them anymore. You can fix the cam issues in a 5.7 with an aftermarket cam and lifters for a lot less then you'd spend on putting a 4.7 in a 5th Gen
