This seems logical due to the dial-a-gear.

It's for the 8 speed transmission. If you lose power there is no way to shift into neutral. Pulling that will maunally put it in neutral so it can be moved.

As mentioned its for manual release of trans per my buddy in the towing industry... many electronic trans with no "linkage" have them. another thing I learned from him with wrecked cars is that there is a fuel shut of reset switch on cars either in the glove box, trunk or near the fuse box, come in handy when you come to a car that is drivable but need to move it after a wreck.

Since you said that you didn't see it in the 6 speed, it's obviously what you need to pull to get the other 2 gears in the 8 speed...plus you gain an extra 50 hp.

Don't believe me...pull on it and see what happens...if it doesn't work, you broke it.
