79A0787A-B93C-487C-AE1D-1D86CFF242DD.jpeg I have read every page concerning level kits/lifts and I went with Bilstein 6112 (preassembled), Zone UCA’s, bilstein 5100’s rear and Icon 1.5” coil springs. Had the dealer install everything and do alignment. They have a guy who does lifts and he is very knowledgeable. Truck looks good rides nice at all speeds but now in 4x4 I get he shudder. Measurements originally Front fender 36” rear fender 39”, now font 39” rear 40”. Stock wheels and tires ( 17”). My cv angles don’t look too steep but I want to get a diff drop kit. I read where a guy on here used one from zone any idea of other manufacturers make them and will it help?. Before and after pic

I 've never seen just a diff drop used on a 13- . That is usually part of a drop bracket type of lift kit that also drops rack and pinion and control arms to keep geometry correct between all components involved

I had a ready lift level Kit on a Tacoma and it came with a diff drop. I see that Zone has a diff drop with their adventure series 2.5” kit but they told me on the phone today that they have nothing for the 2018 RAM

Do you have any idea which clip was used on the 6112s? I know the top are for eco diesels only. Seems from what I've researched on the 6112s the highest hemis setting was 2.6 iirc. Where did you find them preassembled?! Truck looks good, maybe get a few pics of the front end up close underneath. As far as I know the front dif is part of motor mounts as well so I'm not sure if you can drop it separately. I know the Toyota guys and others can reap the benefits of small dif drops but I've not spent enough time under this truck yet to see if it's doable. Does it vibrate constantly or under certain circumstances. The coils may settle just a little, so I can't see that being enough to change much, but it is something to keep in mind.

You have the exact setup I've been planning on doing so not to hijack your thread from your issue but how do you like it thus far.

I'm not 100% on this but I believe all but 1 mount is the same on our newer trucks vs the 09-11 trucks. Been looking into the dif swap for an eventual regear and I'll have to dig to find exactly which is different, but one of our mounts are different. I'm sure they could be a workaround per se but idk what exactly is the difference. I'd surely be interested in trying to sort a dif drop out myself to keep the cvs happy. They seem to be very sensitive on some trucks.

I found the 6112 preassembled on EBay, but DO NOT buy them from 1 source off-road, they sold them to me but were not in stock as listed then took 3 weeks to get them and it was sent in two packages, horrible communication and they had my $ from day one. They are set to #7 @ 2.6” Anyway here are some pictures.

That’s strange your getting a shudder, where you off-road when you tried the 4x4 or on concrete?

On grass its not as bad as pavement and is only during hard acceleration.

I don't remember what forum, with a little googling it will show up but swapping to an earlier front diff is pretty well documented. More to it than the mounts IIRC. You will be going from a high pinion to a low pinion so drive shaft will need attention . I believe the newer diff is also a bigger one. I was also looking into it mysef just to get rid of 3.55's. 35's and a six speed = dog

I just wonder if what your feeling is the axles binding, your not suppose to put it in 4wd on concrete and your grass front yard won’t qualify either.

http://www.4x4abc.com/4WD101/def_turnpart.html
it’s definitely the shudder. I have only tried it while driving in a straight line. I understand 4wheel drive and how it reacts to pavement when turning. The truck did not do it before the level kit. I just turned 2000 miles truck is only 4 months old. I compared it to my friends RAM who just had the same kit put on a week before me. His doesn’t shudder however I sit a little higher on the front than him.

You say it happens under hard acceleration. This is the problem with bilstien style lifts or any lift that does not drop the differential. The cv joint angle may look fine when your sitting still looking at them . But when you accelerate and the front of the truck raises your suspension droops, and your cv angles get worse.

Lower the lift height of the Bilsteins and it will most likely fix your problem.

Looking at your pictures and obviously the before and after measurement numbers you definitely ended up with more than the advertised lift. I'd wait and see if they settled a bit before changing the height and just be mindful while in 4wd. Maybe go take em and run em offroad a bit and give those new springs a chance to break in and settle a tad. Sucks that you have the shudder though.

On another note, how do you like the setup overall? I only found a few guys running things same as you and they aren't on here anymore it seems so feedback has been minimal. Looking to do the exact same as you.

Sorry to see the problem you are having. I don't have level, but i do run 6112s and Zone UCAs. I am cranked at 2.4, not maxed to 2.6. I also run a 6/3 Zone and have heavy ass front/rear bumpers.

I have less than 150 Miles on it since the level. So I think Hodge-Xj is right, saying I need to break them in and see if they settle. I do like the set up, the Stance looks great, feels tight and responsive. It does feel more like a truck and not a car. I’ll keep everyone updated after I get some mileage on it. Joes1500 theory of acceleration and suspension rising increasing cv joint angle combined with running it on cement /grass in a straight line makes sense. Still would like a diff drop kit if they made one. I am going to get BFG 34x10.5x17 in the next week or so.

I just went out earlier and was looking at the dif, it's not as simple as the yota to drop. I'm still really curious what's different with our mounts from the earlier models. I'm gonna do some searching and I'll get back in touch.

I used he truck this weekend riding highway and some gravel/dirt roads. After several hundred miles the fronts have settled almost 1/2”. Haven’t used 4x4 yet

Look at some of the pictures of the procedure to put them 8" low pinion in our truck and you will see what they had to mod and it would be the same mod to the drop bracket. The ring gear isn't welded in the 8" rear making it easier to swap to better gears vs our diffs so some swap the whole assembly . Google is your friend
