I am doing a complete drivetrain swap on my W150 to dana 60 front and dana 70 rear axles and dropping in a 5.9 12v and mv5600 transmission. I am looking at either lifting my truck 6 or 8 inches but I can't find a good quality lift kit and it appears the only one who lifts that much is skyjacker. If anyone knows of other kits that are good or any custom shops in the upstate new york area I am interested.

You can put heavy duty diffs and suspension under that truck but your 1/2 ton frame will never handle the weight or torque of a 1200 pound Cummins. You would be better off, and safer, finding a rolling chassis from an original Cummins equipped truck and swapping your body onto it.

Depends.

The short bed is a very light frame. The longbed is the same as W250 gas or w250 non-intercooled.

As for lift... a stock cummins truck is already a 2" suspension lift. I put in 3" more lift and I think I'm done - running 35's and there's room for 37's.
