I just bought a used 2005 RAM3500 with SRW's. I was cleaning it up and saw the jack and lug nut wrench under the seat...figured I'd check them out. Surprise...the wrench and the lug nuts don't fit/match. The lug nuts are 3/4 sized (wrench removal size - the threads appear to be 9/16th) and the lug wrench appears to be 7/8 or perhaps even 15/16.

Am I missing an adapter or are these aftermarket chrome nuts just sized for a wrench different from OEM?

What is a good source for OEM sized nuts?

Glad I found this in my driveway...what a roadside PIA this would be!

Get a different wrench
Unless the lug nuts look like crap

I purposely have lug nuts that can't be removed with any standard wrench

The only thing that i have to watch out for, when my tires get rotated, i have to make sure that the special key is with me when i drive away

Ran this down a bit further. The apparent OEM lug nuts were 9/16-18 threads with a 15/16" hex head. This size fits the jack handle. Somewhere along the line these were switched out to nuts with a 3/4" hex.

Not surprising as the stock ones have a stainless cap over them that stretches out over time making it hard to get a socket on them and the factory replacements are pricey.
