So i've owned my 2008 Ram 2500 for about a year now, she is in beautiful shape, low miles and equipped all the stuff I want and none of the new junk I don't, but the biggest problem that makes me not super happy with it is the simple fact it's a Gasser.
the 5.7 is a fine motor and gets the big truck moving pretty easily, it's reliable and cheap-ish to fix but I want a Diesel, I have the time and space to do the work and I think I have a source for a motor and tranny for super cheap.
Has anybody done this? I know the general answer is "just sell it and buy one that already is a diesel" since the Dodge can be factory equipped with the Cummins obviously and it might be cheaper to just trade into a diffrent truck.
I'm fairly handy, I can do mild fabrication and I have a car lift that can support the truck, Is this doable? does anybody make kits for this? I got a feeling the mechanical situation won't be the hard part but it will be the electrical one.
Here is a picture of the truck, only thing it has wrong with it is the stupid fake chrome peeling off a spot on the bug guard.
