Former Marine here from '99 - '05. Started as heavy equipment operator then went into MSG which is the Marines you see guarding the American Embassies around the world. After that I got out and did security in Iraq for Blackwater. Now I live in Canada lol...

‘03 - ‘06 (as an Abrams Systems Maintainer) while they were still at Ft Carson.

After we got back from our 2nd deployment 3ACR moved to Ft Hood while 4ID was in Iraq (they actually relieved us). When 4ID returned they came to Carson. It’s funny how many of us just switched patches and stayed in CO.

You crossed at 0 lat 0 long, pretty neat. What did you have to do for your shellback initiation, @Wallyb4?

We crossed it on the LHA I was on. We had to crawl all over the ship sucking water out of the tie down points, slide down the garbage Shute, dress up and preform for the shellbacks. Swim in the grease pool and suck the cherry out of the fat man belly covered in rotten garbage. I will never forget it.

When I was in, 3rd ACR was at Ft Bliss, El Paso, Tx

The Armor was the M60 at the time. When I was discharged in '84, they still hadn't received the M1 yet.

A couple years before, I was stationed at Yuma Proving Grounds, I was part of the test crew that tested the gun and targeting system for the M1.
