Coworker has a 2024 gladiator that apparently went through 3 motors, and that's not uncommon from what I hear. We keep telling him but it's his money.

I'll take the "lowly" port injected Pentastar over the Yuckoboost all day long.

I had 306K miles on a 2.7 in my 2015 F150 before I got rid of it. I had 33K on a 2014 JKU before I got rid of it, after CEL's among other issues.

2.7 High Milage Check out this thread to see more.

I feel most people go to forums to find a solution to a problem or figure out what Mod's etc. Very few go on forums to say everything is great, so most stuff you see on forums are slanted.

But we all have our opinions.

2.7 EB is direct and port injected and is one of the most robust engines in terms of longevity on the market right now. Flip side is Jeep has the better transmission with the ZF8 speed and an overall lower cost of ownership.

At least they both have very breakable windshields.

I have 2 comments:
1. What is up with the "duck" thing on Jeep dashes??? It must be a chick thing?? WHY? I honestly don't know.
2. I agree with the Jeep gas and brake pedals being too close together and the same height. Scared the SH** out of me when i was borrowing my parents Compass a few years back. I too had to brake and hit both at the same time. Thankfully the brake won but I was revving the hell out of the engine.

It's easy enough to search if you want to learn more about "ducking"...
I first learned about it after coming back to my Jeep GC after eating at Taco Time about a year ago. I came back to the vehicle to find an ugly green duck sitting on the side view mirror. In looking over at the Wrangler parked next to me I noticed what I later learned is called a duck pond (dash board covered with ducks). I figured it came from them so I stuck the duck on his hood and left lol. After I got home I asked about it in a Jeep forum and learned more. I don't have an issue with it but I figured it was just a Wrangler/Gladiator thing. Lately I've been seeing duck ponds in other makes like Honda and Toyota so it's morphing into something else.

I didn't have as much of an issue with the pedals because I've owned lots of cars with pedals that were too close together. It's just something I got used to a long time ago.

Hi fairly new to the forum, actually my first reply. I had a new Gladiator when they first came out in Dec 2019 a Rubicon when they were more reasonably priced. Didn't need that trim where I lived but it looked the best. I loved it, my wife hated it. She did not like the height or the straight up flat windshield. she probably rode in it 5 times. gas mileage is horrible, yes driving a brick. Added some trimmings and got a boat load of compliments. Did not have any real problems until 2025 then started getting the corrosion around the hinge areas though the dealer did repair all the (quite a few) spots I pointed out even after the 5yr warranty which was great. I would have still had it though for some reason the front foot wells (both) got flooded twice. It was not from the Best Top flip top I had on for years since I put a cover over it when it rained. After the second time drying out the carpet, I needed to get rid of it. I was actually looking at another newer used gladiator (Mohave) when I found a nice used 2025 Ram Limited. Had everything and also most important the wife loves it as well. the Gladiator is nice for what it is, having the open top is really great though it's a very different vehicle. Need to test it out, maybe even rent one for a week to know for sure as they are not for everyone.

You could rent one for a week instead of a long term lease deal and see how you/her like it.
Course you wouldn't know future failings but at least you/her would get a "feel" for it.
Ya,I also can't stand the stupid duck thing club.

It's not about "you" liking it. It's about "her" liking it. Voice of experience talking here.

Just buy her a Gladiator. She won't forgive you if you don't.You will be happier in the long run...What is worse,a Jeep that has issues( and perhaps it will not),or your Marriage having issues...

She test drove one, when we got back to the dealer she just said nope. She also said nope to a Navigator, an Expedition, and a 4 Runner.

She likes the truck she has now, so I will wait until she says I want XYZ, and see if she likes it or not.

The duck thing has to be a chick thing and definately despised in the older Jeeps community just like the Angry Bird grill. In their eyes, the TJ was the last real Jeep made too. Just eff'n wave too.
I have two friends and a SIL that have the Gladiator and love them.
I love em all myself, but for the Bronco vs the Jeep? No contest, the jeep turns heads, the Bronco is just another one in a gazillion.
