So I noticed my ground strap on the passenger side by the exhaust of my ram was rotted off. i took the strap off but the stud was rotted off too. i am fairly sure this is why my lightning bolt was flashing. i went to replace the ground strap with a used strap off a 2002 ram 4.7 from a junk yard. the ground strap was the 2 pieces with one being considerably longer. the end on 1 side had a smaller inner diameter spur like, just like the one pictured and the other 2 ends had large openings that would go on the back of the heads.
the rotted off ground that was attached by the passenger side exhaust had the smaller inner diameter connection that looked like a spur so i decided to use the same end off the used strap to connect to a different ground stud by the passenger side exhaust that is pictured. i tried to sand the area but couldn't get anything up there to sand it with.
is the stud being metal enough to ground it or am i going to need to sand the paint off where the floor is? i also wrapped the other section of ground strap, zip tied it and put tape over it because i didn't know if what i did was going to work yet and i don't want to cut that section off since i don't have a way to crimp the wire back to the connector if this way i rigged it doesn't work.
Did I do this all wrong or is this fine? i also routed the strap to where the strap touches bare metal on the transmission since the strap is so long. is this bad?
i started the truck and immiediately the flashing lighning bolt came on again. i had a long thread about this but apparently it was deleted. i replaced the egr with a new oem one, replaced the following sensors with used oem ones from the junk yard: coolant temp sensor, map, air intake. I cleaned the pcv. I put in a new thermostat. it still idles rough and has flashing lightning bolt. i am thinking the ground is still my issue but not sure. has anyone had good luck with aftermarket throttle bodies or is oem the way to go? OEM's are over $300. The junkyard still has the 08 4.7 ram I could take the oem used throttle body off if OEM is the way to go? Thoughts?
also noticed the spindle? is hitting the control arm when at full lock? is there a way to adjust this or will an alignmet shop have to fix it? it is on both sides?
Thank you for your help
