Lately i have been bouncing around the idea of upgrading from my 2nd gen to 3rd gen. Well, i have been thinking more about this and went and looked at some trucks yesterday. Checked out a nice 04 Laramie with 71000 miles. It is loaded quad cab 4x4. Really good shape in and out. What do you think would be a fair price?

it probably wouldn't change price any if at all, but that truck is not a laramie. It is a sport

that price might be pretty close to average, but i sure would try to get it cheaper.

I always ask for about 10-15% off, especially if you have your own financing.

Thats a clean truck man. Looks like you are sitting at 82k miles (not that it matters). Cars/Trucks usually run high in NY, just like everything else, so I would say you are looking at a fair price...although if it were me I would still try and talk him down a grand and get closer to the 14,*** range ;) Did you run an Edmonds and KBB?

I talked mine down 1800!

You guys are right, i am getting a couple of the trucks i looked at mixed up. This one is the SLT with the higher mileage. Let me see if i can find a link to the Laramie. Basically the same truck as the one i posted. Has heated seats and a couple other additions this one doesn't.

If this is at a dealer I would shoot for at least $2500 off because in my experience as a car salesman in the past anything put on a used car lot is marked up between 3k - 4k. Salesman make the most money on used vehicles and they always start high. At my old dealership that truck in that good of shape would be put out with a 4k mark up and if I sold it at that price my commission would be an even $1k. So make them an offer that's well off of that and let them work you up from there.

Alright, i spoke to the dealer with the Laramie version. Like i said it is just like the truck i posted but just has a few more options and has 10k less miles. Do you think 13k would be a reasonable price? I kind of want a number in mind to end at so i know what not to go higher than. I was thinking offer 11.5k with the idea of going as high as 13k, or is that too high?

I think 13'000 is a fir pric for a laramie with that low mileage...my son sells cars, and if you dont have a trade in you will be ok....if you have a trade in, sell it yourself, as you will do far better...good luck

Looks good. Check the inner fenders and the inside of the bumpers for rust along with the underside.

Well after looking it over and weighing the pros and cons i decided to stay with the 2nd gen for now. The dealer let me take the truck home for the day to drive it and inspect it. While i had it home i checked the diffs and found metal chunks in the rear. Also had a major leak at the pinion bearing. Those two things made me think that rear work was in the near future so i decided to pass. Will have to resume my search this week for a nice early 3rd gen.
