Don't have a load tester on hand, but that's unlikely what with the same problem occurring with two separate batteries that otherwise test good. I think what happened when I managed to jump it the first time was probably the same reason as the eventual 'fix'. Hammering the starter beforehand probably dislodged the carbon and brushes, or I bumped a post connection into a better working position. Hopefully the latter, because now I've cleaned and retightened them all I should be good to go. But I suspect she'll need a new starter soon enough. I'll report back when it finally does give out...
