Hey y’all.

Just started driving my first Dodge (2009 crewcab hemi 4x4 Laramie, 3.92)

Historically had jeeps, gmc, and a tundra, and don’t know much about this truck yet. This truck is from up north, so it’s got an unnecessary amount of cold weather stuff on it (and rust)... and chrome.

If anyone knows of the ‘go-to’ spot in the Austin area, there’s a couple things I’m exploring:
- adding tint
- leveling kit via Bilsteins
- replacing the 20x9 Chrome clads & Michelin M/S2 tires with something not... chrome.
- removing the AIR bed cap / bed rug and going to a camper shell

Guess it’s worth mentioning that I have the lifetime power train warranty still in tact (long-story). So I’m kind of trying to see what I can get away with w/o risking voiding the warranty.

Welcome!!! I'm in Austin also. Hope you enjoy the forum. To answer your questions--
Tint--Sunbusters in North Austin (North 183)
Bilsteins--Purchase from Moe's Performance(vendor on this site) Cheapest place for install seems to be 4 Wheel Parts in Austin
Wheels and tires--try Discount Tire
Camper shell---all depends on what kind you want. Personally I'd leave the bed rug in the truck even with the camper shell.

Hey Jay,

thx for the reply.

- Sunbusters was on my list to evaluate ceramic tint (35% on the sides, maybe something on the windshield bc F a bunch of texas heat with black leather seats)

- def plan on buying from Moes.

- 4wheelparts may be cheapest, but do people trust em to do the job right?

good point on the bed rug with camper shell.

Really, I’m trying to figure out how i can transport my fishing rods with this silly short bed. the camper shell doesn’t solve that issue, but it does solve for secure storage and putting the kayaks / paddle boards on top.

I've had 4 wheel part do a couple of installations of shocks for me and they did a good job and they were cheaper than anyone else I could find. Also in the past I have had a Leer and a Snug top shell. Like both of them--they were secure and water tight(mostly--the windows had to be fixed as they leaked). I would NOT recommend the Leer dealer on North 183(Can't remember the name). They do a really crappy job of installation and their service is nonexistent. Sunbusters is the best in town--IMHO--not the cheapest, but the best.

:welcome:

I am in Round Rock, just around the corner. I trust Pickupheaven here in Austin. They're a very capable shop with a decent storefront (not as extensive as 4WP). They did my Zone lift (including adjusting my Bilstein struts) and added tires/wheels and UCAs. If you are ever in need of differential work, Justjeeps is THE spot to go. They regeared 3.55 --->4.56 front/rear for me and dropped in an LSD.

B&H Customs in Pflugerville is also a good shop for bumpers, shells, accessories.

A few other shops too. Send me a PM and I can share some other info. Also, Jay (Pull Ya) and I are talking about getting together with a bunch of ramforum members in the Spring, possibly for MOPAR day at the Lonestar track in Sealy.

Thanks, yall.

It might be cool to do a central Texas meetup. Though driving to Sealy sort of takes the "central Texas" factor away. :p

One thing I've been wondering is whether I could find someone locally who's already leveled with 5100s to see what the ride difference was like. My tundra was way more stiff of a ride than this rig and I'm digging the comfort of this ram. Just don't want to go to 5100s and end up with too jarring of a ride.

or maybe i'm over-thinking things.

I went from stock to 5100s for level and my ride dramatically improved. I later did a lift and kept the 5100s in place.
