Hi guys! New to this forum so I thought I'd share my truck! Here she is in all her glory:

Some quick specs:
  • 98' Ram 1500
  • 4x4
  • 5.9L V8
  • Simple front leveling kit
  • Bilstein 5100 shocks
  • approx 33/12.5R18 Nitto Terra Grapplers
  • Inherited from my grandfather who babied this truck. It's rarely ever seen dirt and the only time it's ever towed was moving my new trailer project from one side of my house to the other. Nearly pristine condition
  • About to roll over 85k miles, California owned and garaged most of it's life

I'm glad to be here! I'll definitely be lurking around this forum. When I took over for it from my parents they had it "tuned up" at a local garage. This entailed the usual maintenance and oil change plus a new air filter due to a mouse infestation. since then I've replaced the blown factory shocks, put a level on it, and replaced the bare street tires with a set of A/T's I had sitting in my garage. It's running great aside from a bit of a rough idle when it first starts up and I've managed up to 14 mpg highway even with the larger tires which is a pleasant surprise. I come from a background in offroading (my jeep project shown) and I'd love to use this truck for overlanding. The only major complaint I have about it is my lack of front recovery points. Does anyone have a recommendation on either tow hooks or a hidden winch to use on the front? I'm attempting to keep it roughly OEM looking, while keeping it capable and running well. Aside from that my only current projects for it involve cleaning the throttle body, changing trans and diff fluids, recharging the AC, cleaning/unfogging the headlights and potentially replacing the blower motor as mine has been getting really loud and not blowing very strong. Does anyone else have suggestions for things I should check out or look into replacing? I know my grandfather babied this truck so I dont need to worry about it being abused, plus its california owned since it was driven off the lot so aside from a couple months being parked in the mountains its had minimal salting and very minimal rust. Thanks for anyone who read through all this! excited to get out and explore in my trusted pickup.

Beatiful truck bro. As to the tow hooks part of your question, only a small number of trucks came with em from the factory and the OEM ones are often hard to find. However, I pulled a bumper from a picking yard and guess what the truck I pulled from had. Factory hooks. I only brought the ratchet and wrench size for pulling the bumper otherwise I'd have taken them then. I'm going back in a few days tho. I'll be sure to get pics

Welcome to the forum! Lmc offers a front air dam that has allowances for tow hooks, so on the chance that you are able to find some, you would not have to hack up the bumper. I imagine most tow hooks that would attach to the frame rails would work with it.
