Hello to the forum, new here. Purchased a new 2018 ram 2500 crew ctd tradesman with off road package this week. I had been looking at an f250 gasser but i couldnt pass on the end of month deal they offered on the ram. Obviously the deisel is nice to drive. Only have about 70 miles on the truck now. Leaving in a couple hours for a trip to west virginia towing my sxs. Looking forward to towing my trailer through the mountains with this truck opposed to my traded in 2013 ram 1500 with the 5.7. I have some questions that i will be posting in short order i see lots of knowledgeable folks on this forum.

Welcome. You're going to love that Cummins. Getting off to a good start towing right away, that will break it in nicely.

You'll love the difference in towing. I've got a 2014 1500 with the 5.7 that towed our RZR ok, but nothing like how my 2018 CTD tows. Like it's not even there. Fuel mileage is better also.

Thank you all for the welcome. The truck obviously towed awesome on the way down here in wv from ne ohio. Averaged a little over 13mpg for the trip with the factory tires. My 5.7 averaged 8.5 with the same load last time we came here.

See it’s paying for itself already. I like it when the truck earns its keep

Very nice. My 5.7 got about 6-7 mpgs when towing my rzrs. This truck has been averaging around 11-12. Almost double for the both of us sounds like. lol

If you like to tinker check out the AlfaOBD thread in the DIY forum here. One major thing with that thread is the ability to drop your tire pressures down from the 80psi rear to whatever you want without the light coming on. Makes for a smoother ride. I’ve got mine set to 45 now. The AlfaOBD does a ton of stuff.

Congrats and welcome from the PNW. Also swapped a 5.7 1500 for a 2500 with a Cummins. I pull a 27' Cougar, and went from about 9.5 in the Hemi with 3.92s, to 12.5-13 with the Cummins, with 3.42s. The hills out here are a little more aggressive than what you guys have there [emoji16]

Whereabouts in NE Ohio are you from? I grew up in Medina.

Im in west salem, bout a half hour south of medina. Return trip i turned on tow haul to see what would happen. My full load was maybe 3500 pounds so i didnt think it was necessary on the trip down. Well not only was it much more responsive in tow haul mode but i actually averaged 13.8 vs 13.5 without tow hail mode. Very happy with it so far. Today i ordered some "never stucks" as i like to call mt tires. Going to put them on the extra set of wheels for the waterfowl and early fish hauling season. Went with 295/70r18 yokohama mt g003s. We.ll see how they are. I bought them because they remind me of the old cooper stt before they messed em up, i mean "updated" them.

Can the 2018 models be adjusted? I read somewhere on here they could not. I did however inflate to 80 then dropped them back down to 70. Seems to let you get away with that but idk how much more until it sets the light off. I will likely never have maximum load on this truck so id love to lower the pressures.

They can be adjusted, but the '18s need a security harness bypass to get in. I'm waiting for mine as we speak. Look at the OP in the alfaobd thread, I would link it if I was at my computer but I think it's in the DIY subforum. Several members here have gone above and beyond to find what can and can't be done, and the membership has added many other things we're able to change, as well. It's a good couple hundred pages of excellent tweaks, and failures as well haha.
