I *think* the 2024 Toyota 4Runner was the last car/truck/suv lighter than a 3/4 ton that was mass produced for the US market without stop/start. No variable displacement. No hybrid. Was the 4Runner the last "normal" power train offered? Think of any others?

Our 2024 Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve with the 5.7l Hemi does not have stop/start.

V8 Challengers / Chargers don't have Start/Stop as far as i know

They both do have the variable displacement, though, right? Do the manual V8s come without MDS still or no?

If you mean VVT which is Variable Valve Timing, yes all Hemi's have had that since 09,including the Hellcat 6.2's.It allows for up to 38 degrees of advance/retard on the cam, that's why they have as good a torque curve as they have. The cam advances at low rpm for torque, and then r-e-t-a-r-d-s at higher rpm to create horsepower.
The stock cam makes good power to roughly 6,000/6100 rpm.if you're playing with the shift points via a tune.
Yup the manual transmission Challengers are a factory MDS / (multi displacement system) delete engine

MDS is just a trade name for variable displacement, nothing to do with timing. Every maker calls it something different.

GM was the same with the 6.2, manual cars didn't have variable displacement but autos did. At least in my generation of Camaro. They call it AFM, though, Active Fuel Management.

Even the Honda 6 cylinders are variable displacement now.

First post expanded on the title a bit with "...without stop/start. No variable displacement. No hybrid..."
Yes, I saw that. And I ignored it because of the title. I would suggest that you add those to your title if you're asking about them as well. You know as well as I do that people often ignore earlier posts once a thread becomes more than half a page long lol.

We bought this GC specifically because it did not have etorque (which covers two of the three things you want to avoid). I'm less worried about MDS on a Mopar product than say a GM with AFM. So I wasn't specifically looking for one without it. And honestly, it was difficult to find an SUV I liked that even offers a V8 that didn't cost close to or over $100k.
