20220 Big Horn with the 5.7L. There has got to be a better way to remove and replace that oil filter. This is likely the third or forth time I've been through this. But I was unable to reach up and loosen that filter by hand. All the filter wrenches including strap wrenches didn't seem to able to work for one reason or the other. The cups that fit the bottom of most filters didn't have enough clearance, and it was awkward at best with the strap wrenches. I ended up reaching up with a short wrecking bar, and tapped on it to get the filter started turning. I don't want to do this to tighten, chance punching a hole in the filter, so I hand tightened it, I'll be keeping an eye on it, but I'm not confident this will do.

After the gasket makes contact, you only need to tighten it another 1/2 turn at the very most,if you over tighten it,even by hand, you'll be fighting to remove it on your next oil change. The gasket swells with heat,so it'll get tighter after you've installed the filter. In other words don't go all bohunk hand tightening it,as you'll have a hell'va fight removing it the next time

^^^ DITTO ^^^ Fruitgrower, no need to he man the filter on. Insure when U remove old, as I know U know old gasket removed. Wipe down after draining, insure new filter lightly coated with fresh oil and do as related by @Wild one. U muscle that filter on there, you'll be swearing at yourself in several languages all at one, LOL.

I like my set-up alot more then Pacbrakes set-up,for the money they charge, they should have rounded off the edges on the holes, and at least used high flow fittings.Everybody who does the pacbrake kit,has a pressure drop, while my set up,actually increased my idle and operating pressures.

Like turkeybirds56 said put some fresh oil on the gasket when you put the new filter on.
