Anyone here run the patriot heads on their hemi or even had their stock heads reworked? Was wondering when I do a cam swap, if it would be benefical to swap to the patriot heads or have some port and bowl work since the springs, pushrods, etc. have to be changed anyway.

Curious to see what kind of power increases people are seeing.

Thanks in advance!

Im not running the patriot heads, im running PWR heads on my truck and the power band is so much smoother. What cam are you going to and whats your current tunner?

I plan on getting the comp 268 cam, hardened pushrods, and the 6.1 springs/retainers. No tuner yet, as the truck is completely stock right now.

I didnt know about the PWR or Inertia heads. Just bought my ram a few months ago and new to the hemi. I am used to small/big block chevys..lol

Prices look to be reasonable!

I plan to put on an intake and long tube headers/exhaust first as my first two mods. Truck will be daily driven as well.

Why kind of power did you get from the PWR heads?

Thanks! Mike

Just keep in mind the 268 needs a custom tune to run, not a canned tune.

For heads I have read that some people see better gains across the rpm range with heads only vs cam only.

Thanks for the info. on the cam There is a custom tuner up the street from me that does GM/ Ford, and Dodge. I have heard good things about them.

Would a comp 260 be a better choice then with the heads?

When you mean better gains, just swapping heads and leaving the stock cam in place?

No the 268 will work great with ported heads (thats where I am headed with mine). With just the cam I am loving mine but to take full advantage of it I really need to get a set of heads in there.

Cam wise 268 is more of a mid to top end cam, 260 is more low to mid range, and the 273 is to high to use without a stroker.

What I meant by better gains is Heads only (ported heads & stock cam) vs Cam only (performance cam & stock heads).
Heads provide consistant power throughout the powerband,
Cams are more or less limited to the rpms where they make hp/tq.

Oh and when you purchase your tuner, make sure it will load a custom tune. Superchips will not, Diablo and SCT will. Downside is being your truck is an 04' you wont have the transmission adjustments with diablo but you will with the superchips.

Thanks for the information guys. I am going to take my time and look into these heads as I still have mods to complete before that time comes.

The heads will come to you built fully ready to bolt on. Very few people ship out bare heads anymore, atleast for the hemi's. Take a look at the cam info section and you will see whats the most popular cams on here. I agree with Ryan on getting a tuner first off, being an 04 get either a DSP or SCT, unless you want to try your hand at the old school method with the PSC-1 split second tuner. A wideband will also need to be on your list of stuff. My truck is a weekend toy but also is used as a DD when it snows or just feel like driving it, I would not hasatate driving it for any set amount of distance.
