Hey guys, I am going to procharge my truck but before I do that I am replacing the two main components, the engine and transmission. I have already found a good 5.7 engine and a P-1SC-1 procharger, but I am having trouble looking for a transmission. I need a 545RFE 4X4 light performance transmission just to handle between 400-450 HP for a decent price i.e. 3000-5000$. And also what else do you guys think I need for this like a certain tuner, certain part, etc. just let me know. (P.S. already looked at paramount and couldn't find nothing)

So far I have my new engine which is a power train engine that is close to oem just improved upon since the pro charger can go on stock vehicles and I don't want much boost anyways. a full pro-charger kit including injectors, tune, programmer, helical gear set, etc, and an ATS 3099149272 545RFE 4WD Transmission Package 03+ Dodge HEMI, do you guys think I am missing anything??

You may need a high GPM fuel pump.

Try to find the strongest RFE you can, throw away your money on it and be prepared to replace it again lol. Then throw an A518 in it. @chrisp2493

Go over on HTC forum, there are some boosted 3rd gens running over there. Either the person gives up and goes back to close to stock or throws a 518 or even a 4L80E in. Very small percentage have discovered the joy of retrofitting a ZF 8HP70. I'm modified but naturally aspirated and I'm on my third trans in the 15yrs that I've owned it. It does the job when left stock, but the RFE does NOT like significant power upgrades. I'm waiting for Greg @Redtruck-VA to chime in on this.

ok well do you have any suggestions as to which one i should get? it needs to match up and be 4x4, and do i need like a conversion kit and tuning thing or does it just bolt up and work right?

The two guys I tagged would be your best source of info for this. You should be able to find chrisp2493's write up in the "Builds" section. He did a 518 conversion behind a 392 stroker and converted it to floor shift with a console.

Yeah...lotsa claims over the years lol. Those of us who have been in this game since the beginning have hoped and prayed for a performance RFE that delivered. Nothing ever holds up long term. By all means though, go for it. Your truck.

Good luck! My last one has lasted awhile but that's because I have a car for a daily....regardless, I still have a low mileage junker takeout RFE for the inevitable failure lol.

The 545 is good in the 3.7, 4.7 an in the dumpster but that’s about it. It does not like spirited driving.

Just the fact you are going boost makes the 545rfe unsuitable for anything other than holding a door open. Charged392 (HTC) has done several 4x4 conversions using 46rh pieces. Martin Saine builds bullet proof tranmissions and is currently building one for my hemi/Willys. Do it right and spend the money..
