QTP electric cut out reviews?

Hey guys and gals just wondering if anybody has a QTP cut out on their truck they make a direct fit one for my 2016 Ram 1500 quad cab and I was wondering how the cutouts hold up if anyone has them. I live in the Northeast where they do salt the roads but I get my truck washed at least twice a week so I think it would be taken care of any input would be helpful thank you. I really want to put on a borla pro XS Muffler to the factory duals but I leave my house at 5 in the morning and I don't want to wake up my wife so the cutout would be the best of both worlds

I've had them on my Camaro for a few years now.....absolutely problem free. But, it's not a daily driver and never sees rain, snow, salt, etc.... So, I can't really say how they would hold up with normal use.

They are notorious for leaking over time. Dougs Headers builds a rotating gate cut-out that seals better.The QTP uses a flapper valve like a throttle body,that has to have clearance between the wall of the chamber and the valve,so they already have a built in leak from the get go.

I had a bad dealing with QTP several years ago. After they took advantage of the situation (and me) I promised them I’d rub their name in the dirt until the day I die.

My suggestion to the OP Is to never deal with these filthy criminals.

I used have QTP in my VW....I spent a lot of time and money fixing or replacing it many times.

I bought other brands, they fell apart too.

All brands would leak, but not bad.


I am now using the cheapest thing on eBay on my truck. Leaks yes, sound like a header leak. So far the cheap wiring and wireless remote have worked for over 2 years.

I love it and I have a replacement midpipe if I ever want to go back to stock.
Honestly I am convinced that you lose power when it's open. I have tried to prove it on the dyno but it's excuse after excuse Everytime I try to schedule a dyno run.

I got one on a 6.4. Like the above poster I too have replacement pipe for when the valve gives up the ghost. Fun to play with from time to time. Not sure i would do it again.

Just an observation---I watch some of the "hot rod" shows on TV. I have noticed that on Kindig's builds(*****' Rides) he seems like he always is putting on cut outs on some high dollar builds. I have a feeling that the owners, for the price they pay, are not going to put up with some crappy cutouts that either leak or don't work properly. Does anyone know what brand he uses, or does anyone what to call and ask? Just an idea------

I try and keep mine clean with gum out and then apply high temp anti seizing

The best cut out I've seen was from McCord...it had sensors to find fully closed or fully opened with an LED to indicate

Now that you said that. When I 1st got mine. I over heated it opening and closing it to much.
I have since found 5 seconds to open and 5 to close and don't keep doing it .

Everytime I go passed a buddy's house . It's open and I'm standing on the pedal. Hes a FORD guy.

With the wireless remote...my passengers enjoy it more than I do.

Was in a parking lot waiting for the wife unit one day. Guy on Harley rolls up, his girl gets off goes in . He burps his throttle then shuts down motor. I see wife coming out start my motor , open cut out. He might have hurt his neck turning to see what was there. I burped my throttle then closed it. Ya it's fun at times.
