I saw someone else on here share one from a fabricator about a month ago, it was probably the same $2,300 one you found Sam09. I don't know that I need one of these but I kind of want one myself. Would be nice for loading kayaks or a canoe on the roof and still having the bed space for gear.

I have been looking for a bed rack because my wife and I are planning on getting a roof top tent(RTT) that can have 4-5 people in it. Most racks that I saw has a 700lbs static capacity that would let me keep my tonneau cover on. I was calculating the weight distribution between the RTT, wife,me and our dog and it would not leave us much for future addition i.e small human.The RTT that we want is about 240lbs + 420lbs our combined weight =660lbs. We are not rich to get that 700lbs. cap. rack now then get another one with higher capacity when we want to expand our family. I like the idea of just having extra weight capacity.The idea of spending 2300 on a base model rack is also just too much.

how often do you take the rack off the truck?
Do you have pictures of how the weldplate under the top of the bed rails were installed?

Love the ingenuity and design, well done. But i do have to ask, how do you clean the roof with the rack that close? I would be worried the slightest flex would cause it to hit the roof.

I'd like to see this too. I have a very similar rack that a friend and I built but the mounting solution we used didn't hold up.
